Best Discord security bot: what to look for before you choose

Title card for the guide to choosing the best Discord security bot

Search for the best Discord security bot and you will find lists that all say different things. That is because the best bot depends on what your server needs. This guide gives you a way to judge any bot, Korzax included, with questions you can check yourself.

Start with the threats you actually face

  • Raids: many fresh accounts joining and flooding channels.
  • Nukes: someone with permissions, or a bot, deleting channels and roles or mass banning.
  • Spam and scams: invite links, malicious links and mass mentions.
  • Slow burn problems: bad onboarding, unanswered support, no record of what staff did.

A good security bot covers the first three well and helps with the fourth. Be wary of any bot that claims to stop everything.

The eight checks

  1. Destructive-action protection. Does it watch bans, kicks, channel and role changes, webhooks and bot additions, and let you choose a response per event? That is anti-nuke, and message filters alone do not replace it.
  2. A whitelist you control. You need to exempt trusted admins, and see exactly who is exempt.
  3. Recovery, not just punishment. If a channel is deleted, can anything be restored? Ask what backups exist and what they cover.
  4. Message automod. Rules for spam, caps, links, invites and mass mentions, with a choice of delete, warn, mute, kick or ban.
  5. Entry control. Verification that keeps new accounts out of your channels until they pass.
  6. A readable dashboard. If settings only exist as commands, mistakes hide. A dashboard shows the current state at a glance.
  7. Honest permissions. It should explain why it asks for what it asks for. See how to check a bot before you add it.
  8. Support and documentation. Can you read how it works, and can you reach a person when something breaks?

How Korzax answers those checks

  • Anti-Nuke covers member actions, channels, roles and webhooks, with a ban, kick or timeout per event, a whitelist and role and channel backups.
  • Automod has rules for spam, caps, links, invites and mass mentions with five possible responses.
  • Verification holds new members behind a check and grants a role when they pass.
  • Everything is configured from a dashboard, and roles with dangerous permissions are flagged and refused.
  • There are public docs, a FAQ, a Terms of Service and a Privacy Policy, and a support server.

What no bot can promise

No bot is the best for everyone, and none can make a server immune. Be sceptical of claims of being number one, unbeatable or instant unless the bot shows you how it measures that. Judge by features you can verify and by how the team handles problems.

Try before you commit

The live demos on the home page run in your browser and show Anti-Nuke, Automod, verification, welcome messages, tickets and voice rooms without touching a real server. When you are ready, work through the protection checklist in your own server.
